OREANDA-NEWS. May 04, 2008. All credit cards issued from the beginning of May bear a chip for security reasons, reported the press-centre of Nordea.

Chip embedded to the Nordea cards belongs to the latest generation of the chips, which is the most secure chip used today.

The migration to chip is accompanied by the introduction of PIN at the POS, which makes it more important to keep your PIN secure and memorize it, as it is needed to use it also for making purchases and buying services.

„Migration to chip cards will take place in order of expiration of old credit cards. Customers will get the chip card in renewal process and also all new issued credit cards will be the chip cards,“ said Jaunius Marinskas, Head of Nordea Bank Lithuania Retail Deparment.

Nordea Bank Lithuania is issuing 9 different types of Maestro debit and MasterCard credit cards. At the end of 2007 bank had issued more than 81000 cards.
