Nurbank Repaid Its Eurobonds to USD 150 mln
OREANDA-NEWS. May 05, 2008. Nurbank JSC (Almaty), securities of which are traded in the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) category "A" official list, provided to KASE the press release with the following content, reported the press-centre of KASE:
Nurbank in compliance with the schedule repaid Eurobonds to the total amount of \\$150 m. and paid the accrued interest. ING Bank and Dresdner Kleinworth acted as this loan organizers.
Repayment was made at the expense of own resources, without re-funding and borrowing of external resources. This repayment is the larger half of external obligations with the maturity period in 2008, and as a result the total volume of the bank's foreign borrowings decreased by 28% and made up \\$383 m. At this the bank's assets were retained at the level of the year beginning, what proves that these resources were offered at the expense of internal funding sources growth, namely the bank's depository base - in the 1st quarter of 2008 the volume of deposits from the beginning of the year increased 75% and made up over KZT100 bn.
In June the bank will implement the last international repayment in 2008 – the syndicated loan in the amount of \\$133 m. Nurbank intends to implement this repayment and is not planning re-funding due to unfavorable situation on international financial markets.
Thus, by results of the first six months of 2008, Nurbank will become the first Kazakhstan bank, completely repaid its external obligations in 2008. More over, the external debt stake in the total volume of obligations will decrease to the admissible level - less than 20%. The remaining external borrowings consists of Eurobonds in the volume of \\$150 m. with maturity in 2011, and one syndicated loan in the amount of \\$100 m. with maturity in 2009.
The successful servicing of the external debt by Nurbank proves its stability and reliability, and the growth of clients and investors confidence. In addition, by fulfillment of its external obligations Nurbank proves sustainability of the Kazakhstan banking sector and ability to adapt to the uncertain situation on external financial markets.
