WB Positively Evaluated Competitiveness Enhancement Project in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. On April 30, 2008 as it was said at the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the fact was mentioned within the meeting between the Minister of Economy and Trade Igor Dodon and the World Bank Mission that was in Chisinau.
The Competitiveness Enhancement Project includes improvement of the business environment, modernization of the MSTQ system (meteorology, standardization, testing and quality assurance), increasing access of enterprises to MSTQ services and financial resources. Igor Dodon mentioned that modernization of the MSTQ system is essential for his department.
Modern laboratory equipment for product testing shall be purchased within this project section. Besides, World Bank Mission representatives suggested that legal documents be placed on the Ministry of Economy and Trade website to ensure transparency of the law drafting process, which would enable the economic community to participate in the analysis of regulation effect.
The Competitiveness Enhancement Project was launched in 2006 and supposed to last for four years. The project is jointly financed by the World Bank (\\$9.8 million) and the Government of Japan (\\$4,5 million).
