OREANDA-NEWS. May 04, 2008. Ural Directorate of OJSC ROSNO has concluded a contract for insurance of a private entrepreneur’s civil liability for a damage inflicted to third parties during operation of commercial premises in the St.Petersburg shopping mall MEGA, reported the press-centre of ROSNO.

Under this contract, ROSNO guarantees reimbursement of losses in case of a damage to life, health or property of third parties, arising as a result of unintentional negligence or defects in the equipment or tools used by the insurant in the rented premises. The contractual insurance amount is 1,500,000 US dollars. The contract has been concluded for one year.

Ms. Anna Novitskaya, head of the legal department in ROSNO’s Ural Directorate, notes that the demand for lessee’s civil liability insurance is on the increase. However, unlike the Western markets, where liability insurance is a usual practice, our people are used to think about it when the insured accident has already occurred and they have to pay for the damage inflicted to neighboring lessees or the lessor out of their own pocket.
