OREANDA-NEWS. On 29 April 2008 was announced, that Ukio bankas presented Kaunas University of Medicine Neurosurgery Clinic with a vitally important medical apparatus, a modern brain tumour removal instrument Helix Hydro Jet.
“By presenting one of the world’s most advanced tumour resection instruments, we aim at facilitating physicians’ work in fighting against the fatal disease. We believe that modern treatment methods will be efficiently applied in our country and Lithuania’s population will have better conditions for treatment,” Gintaras Ugianskis, Ukio bankas Chief Executive Officer, said.
“Helix Hydro Jet” is the method of brain metastases and other brain tumour dissection already tried by Kaunas neurosurgeons. During the surgery, a strong water jet, generated by the apparatus, dissects the lesion from the brain without damaging it.
“Brain tumour is one of the most dangerous forms of cancer posing threat to human life. We express our gratitude to Ukio bankas for important financial aid to Kaunas University of Medicine, whose physicians will be able to render more efficient help to the patients when working with the new instrument. So far, this is the only such modern device in Lithuania offering more opportunities to neurosurgeons in fighting against cancer,” Prof. Habil. Dr. Arimantas Tamaрauskas, Head of Kaunas University of Medicine Neurosurgery Clinic, said.
