OREANDA-NEWS. On 29 April 2008 was announced, that from 28 April Rossiya - Russian Airlines began operating services between St. Petersburg and Tbilisi.

The restoration of this air link followed negotiations between Rossiya and the republic‘s aviation authorities, and the successful extension of the necessary flight permissions. Airlines Rossiya is the rightful successor to Pulkovo Aviation Enterprise, which traditionally operated flights to Georgia. Despite the temporary suspension of flights, the airline‘s representative office in Tbilisi continued to function, and through its efforts Rossiya passengers were able to fly to St. Petersburg via Yerevan. The reintroduction of direct flights is, without doubt, good news for many categories of passengers, from businesspeople to tourists.

Flights from St. Petersburg to Tbilisi and back operate every Monday. The service departs from Pulkovo at 11.20, arriving at Lochini Airport at 14.45; the return flight leaves at 16.25, arriving in St. Petersburg at 19.50.
