OREANDA-NEWS. April 29, 2008. JSC Gurievsk Metallurgical Plant (GMP, ESTAR Group) was nominated “Products of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy” and awarded Small golden medal for “production of a wide range of high quality metal products” at the Siberian trade show “Metals of Siberia - 2008”.

The plant submitted the following two items to the contest committee: hot rolled profile for side chutes and steel grinding balls of 25 diameter – 100 mm with 55-60 HRc dimensional hardness.

The hot rolled profile for side chutes is used in mining industry. It is manufactured from 30 G steel grade with chemical composition and mechanical properties in accordance with GOST 4543 without heat treatment. The linear mill where the product is produced is deemed to be the only one in the Urals. Special profile used to manufacture mining equipment is in great demand in ferrous and mining industries. JSC Gurievsk Metallurgical Plant, at the Kemerovo region authorities order, satisfy demand for mining industry for the product item.

The ball of 25-100mm dimensional hardness is made of low-alloy steel with standard dimensional hardness, shock resistance and fatigue strength. Gurievsk Metallurgical Plant is one of the leading enterprises in Russia specializing in production of steel grinding balls. Ball-rolling mills operating at the plant today are the most advanced in Russia. The plant has two ball-rolling complexes with total capacity of 160-170,000 t p.a. Last year the plant put into operation a tempering furnace for heat treatment of steel grinding balls, which allowed to start producing balls of higher resistance and quality of existing GOST standards. GMP was the first enterprise in Russia to implement low temperature tempering of balls, which enabled the plant to sensibly improve quality of the balls. A tempered alloyed ball, given the same content of nonmetallic inclusions in steel, has a 3.5 greater shock resistance, 1.5 greater wear-resisting properties than an ordinary ball manufactured using the common technology. These are highly quality products of fourth repartition which has solid export prospects.
