OREANDA-NEWS. On April 23, 2008 Russian Post started development and test of automated system of post offices based on freeware that was developed by leading IT-companies, reported the press-centre of Russian Post.

Тests will last 2-3 months. If the project is a success, Russian Post can use freeware in post offices throughout the country. In this case post can set new software in 57 thousand operation counters and 70 thousand working places in over 42 thousand post offices of Russian Post.

Transfer to freeware helps to safe immense sum of money the enterprise spends on setting new working places and technical supporting old ones equipped with computers and high-tech facilities.
