OREANDA-NEWS. April 24, 2008. In January-March, 2008, industrial enterprises of Moldova of all forms of ownership have output goods for 6 billion 694,8 million leis (\\$643,7 million), having exceeded the indicators of the same period of the last year by 7,7 %.

According to the National bureau of statistics, the growth of industrial output is due to increase in volumes of production of enterprises of food-processing industry and drinks (by 16,8 %), and power sector (by 6,8 %).

Significant growth in January-March, 2008 has been registered at the enterprises producing distilled alcohol drinks - 1,9 times, and wines- 1,8 times. Production of footwear has increased by 22,7 %, production, processing and conservation of meat and meat products – by 15,1 %, furniture - by 11,3 %, cocoa, chocolate and confectionery products - 10,1 %, bread and bakery products - 9,9 %, dairy goods- 9,8 %, electricity- 4,7 %.

The volume of output has increased at tanneries (3,6 times), enterprises producing medical, exact and optical equipment (1,6 times), iron and steel industry ( 41,4 %). Production of cement, lime and plaster has increased by 39,6 %, machine tools - by 38,7 %, varnishes and paints - 9,1 %, agricultural machinery - by 5,6 %, carpets - 4,1 %.

At the same time, in January-March, 2008, output has decreased at the enterprise producing fats and oils - by 21,1 %, glasses and glass products - by 23,8 %, clothes - by 6 %. The volume of output of tobacco products declined by 22 %, products from rubber and plastic -by 16,3 %, pumps, compressors and hydraulic systems - by 16,4 %, respectively.
