OREANDA-NEWS. April 25, 2008. Another scheduled training on civilian protection took place at Zaporizhstal JSC. Representatives of structural subdivisions of the Works participated in this event. Zaporizhstal civilian protection specialists analyzed the situation on fire protection, breakdown rate, protection of the Works’ property. At the meeting it was stated that last year there were 500 fires in the Zaporozhye region. For more effective fire-fighting a helicopter will be purchased for the services of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. All in all it is planned to invest 50 mln UAH in fire protection of the region.

The question regarding protection of public order at the Works was quite a keen one. In 2007 4015 persons were held up by the Works’ guards for disobeying the pass control. More than 1000 of them were workers of Zaporizhstal JSC. In this respect proposals on improvement of the current situation were considered. Studies were followed by training in realistic conditions. Elements of accidents and fire outbreaks were recreated at the Works, after which they were eliminated by the specialists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Life Saving Service “Kobra”. Participants of the training process could see for themselves what actions are to be taken in emergency situations.
