OREANDA-NEWS. April 24, 2008. As it became known, Mr. Igor Yakovenko, President of AZEL Company was elected as a Chairman of Information Technology and Telecommunications Committee (ICT) at the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Azerbaijan.

The ICT Committee is one of the most active and popular AmCham industry groups. The committee works across industry groups to promote the development and improvement of technological infrastructure in Azerbaijan.

Professional experience of being President and founder of one of the biggest system integration and IT companies in Azerbaijan as well as nearly 17 years became serious argument in favor of Igor Yakovenko candidature.

Headed by Mr.Yakovenko ICT Committee will coordinate its efforts to provide specific recommendations to the Government of Azerbaijan to assist in meeting the following goals: leading Azerbaijan into the era of a liberalized and competitive ICT environment, providing appropriate legal and regulatory recommendations, creating a competitive environment in ICT sector.

According to Mr. Yakovenko,“my election as a Head of ICT Committee is a highest estimation of my attainments in the field of IT technologies.

Information technologies are the second priority field of development in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Now IT sector is growing fast contributing a significant share to the country’s GDP.

I hope that ICT Committee’s activity will allow us to make contribution in making Azerbaijan in the regional center of highest technologies.”
