Metalloinvest Develops Its Transport Infrastructure
OREANDA-NEWS. On April 18, 2008 Metalloinvest Holding transportation subsidiary “Metalloinvesttrans” started wagon maintenance depot construction. The opening ceremony took place on the 18th of April at Mikhailovsky GOK in Zheleznogorsk (Kursk region). The project costs RUB 1,1 billion. It is to be completed by 2010, reported the press-centre of Metalloinvest.
“The management company tries to consider all the factors which can affect the holding’s competitiveness. Expansion of mining and metallurgical divisions’ production demands appropriate infrastructure and such projects are indispensable condition for stable growth. A new depot is also of social value as it enables to create 530 additional workplaces”, Metalloinvest CEO Maxim Gubiev says.
Metalloinvesttras operates the stock of 7 139 rolling equipment units with 70 m tpy freight turnover. According to the company expansion program the rolling equipment stock will be enlarged up to 9 000 units by 2010; it will cause growth of maintenance works and will require own repair facilities. Thus a new wagon depot will provide reliable and continuous operation of the rolling stock equipment and create effective mechanism for transportation service.
