OREANDA-NEWS. April 21, 2008. In SJSC Latvijas dzelzcels (LDz) there is a Spring Clean Month. The management of LDz will organize annual spring tours to railway stations, but the employees on Saturdays will take part in cleaning works to tidy up the railway territories, reported the press-centre of Latvijas dzelzcels.

LDz structural units, for instance, permanent-way districts, are responsible for cleanliness and tidiness of railway territories for whole year. In addition LDz management and the responsible experts from Technical Management Department organize annual spring inspections in all LDz railway lines to evaluate the current situation in railway infrastructure, station buildings, and the surrounding territories.

LDz Board considers the summarized information and decides on allocation of finance resources to renovate the railway objects. Their attention was particularly drawn to the railway infrastructure (stations, platforms, service rooms, booking-offices) that is used in passenger transportation.

On 15-17 April spring tours were organized in Latgale regional railway lines, from station Plavinas till border stations: Zilupe, Indra, Karsava, and Kurcums. During Spring Clean Month there will be spring tours also in the directions of Ventspils, Liepaja, Meitene and Renge.
The employees of LDz and their families willingly take part in cleaning works. In order to help the specialized LDz service to clean railway territories, Latvian Railwaymen Society organizes Saturday cleaning works.
