OREANDA-NEWS. On 17 April 2008 was announced, that at the end of March Pulkovo Airport turned to the summer schedule. The summer season 2008 opens wide possibilities for tours to the cities of Russia, countries of C.I.S. and foreign countries.

On the 30th of March SWISS airline operated the first flight to Pulkovo Airport having opened daily scheduled flights from Zurich to Saint-Petersburg. The airline became the 26th foreign carrier operated scheduled flights into Pulkovo Airport.

Blue Wings airline, firstly started operating flights to Saint-Petersburg in the beginning of the year, on the 30th of March increased flight operation frequency on the route Dusseldorf – Saint-Petersburg – Dusseldorf up to five times a week.

On the 29th of April the first flight from Saint-Petersburg to Malta in the new summer season will be operated by the airline Air Malta. In July and August two flights a week will be operated every Wednesday and Friday. Increase of flight operation frequency on the given route became possible due to considerable growth of popularity of the rest on the Maltese islands among Russian tourists in the last years.

The geography of flights to the countries of C.I.S. is developing. On the 16th of April the first flight of the airline Air Moldova will be operated on the route Kishinev – Saint-Petersburg – Kishinev. The flights will be operated three times a week every Monday, Wednesday and Friday by the comfortable aircraft A320.

In the beginning of April the airline Air Moldova also began operating new flights to Pulkovo Airport, opening scheduled flights from Saint-Petersburg to Namangan (every Tuesday) and Urgench (flights are operated every Thursday).

In summer season the airline STC “Rossiya”, being the first-rate carrier in North-West region, opens flights from Saint-Petersburg to Tenerife, islands of Greece, increases flight operation frequency to Barcelona. The flights from Saint-Petersburg to Osh (the Kyrgyz Republic) will be firstly operated. In the end of April the recommencement of air communication between Saint-Petersburg and Tbilisi is planned. Extra flights will be opened in the domestic air-lines.

Flight operation frequency will be increased to such destinations as Kaliningrad, Murmansk, Krasnodar and Sochi.

Transaero airline is greatly increasing the number of routes and flight operation frequency in Pulkovo Airport. From the 24th of April the new route Saint-Petersburg – Tokyo –Saint-Petersburg will be opened. The flights will be operated twice a week every Tuesday and Thursday. Within the bounds of Transaero charter programme development the flights to Greece (Arakhos, Iraklion, Rodos) and Spain (Barcelona) will be operated in Saint-Petersburg. In June the new flight of the airline will be opened from Saint-Petersburg to Pula.

Ural Airlines, UTair and Kuban Airlines increase flight frequency and open new flights on domestic routes. From the 8th of March Ural Airlines increase frequency of air communication between Saint-Petersburg and Yekaterinburg up to four flights a week. The airline introduced special rates for the tickets purchased in advance (10 days before the takeoff) or on the internet-site of the carrier. The flights to Yekaterinburg will also be operated by the airline UTair. The first flight on the given route was operated by the airline on the 30th of March. UTair will operate flights from Saint-Petersburg to Yekaterinburg four times a week every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Beginning from April, UTair operates flights from Saint-Petersburg to Arkhangelsk with the frequency of three times a week every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On the 30th of March Kuban Airlines opened daily flights on the route Saint-Petersburg – Krasnodar.

Pulkovo Airport is planning to develop domestic and international air communication later on. In the new summer season the flight frequency on the given routes will be developed, new scheduled and charter flights to the cities of Russia, CIS and foreign countries will be opened.
