OREANDA-NEWS. On April 11, 2008 within Azovstal complex program of production modernization and reconstruction, capital repairs of BF-3 has been completed at BF-shop. Investments for the project amounted approximately 150 mln. UAH, reported the press-centre of Azovstal Iron & Steel Works.

Capital repairs of BF-3 were performed in January-April 2008. In the course of repair works an advanced system of refractory lining was implemented at the blast furnace. This system is widely used at leading world enterprises and it helps to increase the life of metallurgical units significantly. BF-3 is equipped with modern control and measuring devices that allow maximal automation of BF operation in accordance with world best practices. Such technical solutions ensure BF productivity of more than 1 mln t of hot metal per year with minimal environmental impact.

Azovstal complex program of production modernization and reconstruction presupposes equipping all metallurgical units with the most modern pollution control equipment. So called “ecological investments” make up approximately 20% of total volume of investments to production modernization.

Carrying-out a program of modernization and reconstruction allows Azovstal Iron and Steel Works to reach planned production volumes for main types of products and to reduce anthropogenic impact on the environment in accordance with European standards.
