Bank Electronika Acquires ATMs from World Leader
OREANDA-NEWS. April 17, 2008. The world’s leading producer of banking equipment, Diebold, will supply Bank Electronika with approximately 100 full-function ATMs. The purchase will enable the Bank to equip retail offices for a proprietary self-service network, part of the Bank’s strategy for developing new business lines.
The ATMs are the product of Diebold, the leading supplier of equipment for automated retail banking. Machines will be acquired through a leasing agreement between Bank Electronika and Media Leasing, which won a tender to provide the equipment.
“Rolling out a network for self-service use of Diebold terminals will optimize the provision of banking services at retail network offices. We will be able to render services more quickly, and the network will free clients from dependence on lines, office hours, and locations,” Dmitry Samoilov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Bank Electronika stated. “The Bank’s employees, released from the necessity of conducting simple operations, will have time to devote attention to clients’ banking and credit needs.”
In addition to issuing cash and managing the user’s account, Diebold’s ATMs support a host of other functions: accept deposits and confirm accuracy in on-line regime, exchange currency, print statements, dispense coins, process settlements and savings account passbooks, electronically process documents. Every terminal will have a module for detecting the authenticity of bank notes.
“While competing for retail clients, Russian banks are rapidly raising the standard for servicing individuals,” Victor Dzhokhadze, General Director of Diebold Self-Service CIS, explained. “Full-function machines appeared in Russia only in 2004, but today they already make up 15 percent of the ATMs in the country. By selecting the Opteva full-function models, Bank Electronika is keeping abreast of the market, placing its bets on quality and accessibility of services for its retail clients.”
As a result of collaboration between the Bank and manufacturer, the former has acquired 23 full-function Diebold ATMs. This is the first stage of their contract. By the end of the year, the Bank will add 75 more terminals for self-service banking – models Opteva 720 and Opteva 760.
