OREANDA-NEWS. April 15, 2008. A reconstruction of a "B" terminal with a gradual construction of the passenger gallery and building of a new "D" terminal with a passing capacity of 2,000 passengers per hour and a plane parking for 21 aircrafts is scheduled to be held within the preparation for Euro-2012 at Kyiv Boryspil Airport.

Passing capacity of the "D" terminal will be 10 million passengers per year. The statement to this effect was made by Kyiv Boryspil Airport DG Oleksandr Shyshkov.

In particular, the "D" terminal is expected to be built out of proceeds of the credit of a Japanese bank till 2011. According to Shyshkov, the first stage of an international tender to select a general constructor is completed. The Japanese bank granted a credit of USD 180 million for renewing of the Boryspil Airport but at least USD 375 million is needed for the reconstruction. "We need another USD 195 million which we can take from the airport profit but we also hope for the state support", the DG said.

The airport management intents to build two hotel facilities, office centers, entertainment complex "Airport-Plaza" and other infrastructure till 2012.

Some 5,675 million passengers used the Boryspil Airport services in 2007. The Airport accepts regular flights of 42 foreign and 12 domestic airlines which connect Kyiv with 12 Ukrainian cities and 84 world ones. Following the results of 2007, the Boryspil Airport performs 61 percent of air traffic volume in Ukraine.
