OREANDA-NEWS. April 15, 2008. Which company in the country takes the best care of the employees and provides them with the best improvement possibilities? The reply to this question was introduced on Tuesday evening in the capital City Hall, where the results of the election “Workplace 2007” were announced. Lietuvos Draudimas was acknowledged as such company for the exceptional merits, reported the press-centre of Lietuvos Draudimas.

On April 8 for the first time in Vilnius the companies were honoured, which mostly contributed to the creation of the social welfare and its strengthening in Lithuania over the last year. National responsible business awards were divided into three nominations – Workplace of the Year, Partner of the Year and Socially Responsible Company 2007.

17 Lithuanian companies participated in the nomination Workplace of the Year. The award was intended to the companies that provided secure, healthy, qualitative and attractive work places for the employees. The nomination assessed employees’ satisfaction with the work conditions as well as active dialogue between the company management and employees and various other employer’s initiatives not only enabling employees to work effectively, but also feel secure, useful and appreciated.

"During the last week our company was evaluated both by Lithuanian society and the state itself: we were among five most desired employers and we were chosen the best Workplace of the Year. And it is not a mere coincidence. We are the company where each employee is valued and motivated to improve and take on new initiatives. We can be proud that the values we declare became exemplary all over the country", - Virginija Mikutaite, Head of HR Division in Lietuvos Draudimas was pleased with the achievements.

Companies’ experience and contribution to the social welfare development was assessed by Evaluation Commission led by Rimantas Kairelis, State Secretary at the Ministry of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania, consisting of the members of permanent companies’ Social Responsibility Development Coordination Commission, representatives of Trade Unions, representatives of Employers’ Unions and other people well known in the society for the contribution to the companies’ social responsibility development.

The assessment was made considering to the united criteria, which helped to measure how the social responsibility is being integrated into business practice starting with strategy and finishing with specific actions (how consistent, conscious, continuous social responsibility practice is or if those are just marketing or philanthropic actions).
