OREANDA-NEWS. April 14, 2008. The FAS Russia delegation headed by Mr. Igor Artemyev visited Direction General on Competition and Direction General on Internal Market and Services of the European Commission within the frameworks of TAIEX project, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The main objective of the visit was holding consultations with the DG Competition representatives on block exemption regulations with regard to horizontal and vertical agreements, including such sectors and motor vehicle industry and air transport. This topic is of current importance, as the FAS Russia elaborates draft document on introducing rules for application of block exemptions to the Russian competition legislation.

Moreover, Mr. Igor Artemyev hold talks with Mr. Emil Paulis, Policy and Strategy Director, Direction General on Competition, where the perspectives of cooperation development between the competition authorities of Russia and EU were discussed.

Furthermore within the frameworks of the visit the Russian delegation had negotiations in Direction General on Internal Market and Services with Mr. Jorgen Holmquist, Director General, and Bertrand Carsin, Director for Public Procurement Policy, discussing ways of further cooperation of parties in the sphere of public procurement improvement.

The parties underlined necessity for continuation of cooperation development in all directions under the competence of the authority, necessity for continuation of the process of harmonization of the European and Russian competition legislation in order to establish common legal ground to eliminate superfluous barriers for the economic entities of both sides, to develop commercial and economic relations between Russia and EU.
