Enterprises of China Ready to Participate in Economy of Kazakhstan
OREANDA-NEWS. On April 09, 2008, in the course of an official visit to China, Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Massimov met CNPC President Jiang Jemin and president of Citic Group, Chang Zhenming, reported the Official website http://en.government.kz.
Head of the Kazakh Government and CNPC Head discussed implementation of a number of large-scale projects, including construction of the 2nd stage of the Kazakhstan-China oil pipeline and of the 1st stage of the Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline. K. Massimov lauded construction of the 3rd Zhanazhol gas processing plant of the CNPC Aktobemunaigaz JV as a major break-through project in the Kazakhstan’s O&G sector.
In the context of cooperation with CITIC Group, the sides dwelt on further joint development of the Karazhanbas oil and gas field, including development of supportive petrochemistry facilities. The sides noted that energy cooperation has been successfully complemented by non-extraction projects. Thus, CITIC Group and Kazyna Sustainable Development Fund of Kazakhstan are considering launching a joint investment fund to bolster projects both in Kazakhstan and other countries of Central Asia.
The heads of the two major state-owned enterprises of China expressed readiness of Chinese businesses to actively participate in Kazakhstan’s diversification efforts.
