OREANDA-NEWS. On 14 April 2008 Rostelecom, Russia’s national LD operator, announced its Board of Directors approved the acquisition of a controlling stake in RTComm.ru.

This decision was adopted by the Board of Directors on the basis of a recommendation made by the Strategic Planning Committee attached to Rostelecom’s BoD. The transaction will raise Rostelecom’s interest in the charter capital of RTComm.ru to 99.5%. ThetransactionpricewillbearoundRub1,563 mln.

“Acquiring RTComm.ru will strengthen Rostelecom’s positions on the backbone Internet market and in the segment of IP services provided to corporate customers” – Rostelecom CEO Konstantin Solodukhin said.

RTComm.ru ranks among the leaders on the Russian telecommunications market, offering Internet access services to operators, and provides a number of ICT services to corporate clients.
