Comstar-UTS Discusses Outlook for Wireless Technologies in Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. On 14 April 2008 was announced, that round table conference Wireless Technologies in Russia: Problems and Outlook for Evolution, organized by the Marketing Communications Agency CNews Conferences, was held in Moscow with COMSTAR-UTS JSC’s support and active participation.
Representatives from about 200 companies and organizations, including communication operators, systems integrators, telecommunication equipment manufacturers and suppliers, regulatory bodies, industry’s representatives involved in the innovative and fast-growing wireless technologies market, were taking part in round table.
Mikhail Berlizev, Project Leader, Strategy Planning Department, COMSTAR-UTS JSC, made a presentation as part of round table. He reviewed the trends in Russia’s wireless technologies market and spoke about the development of wireless Internet access in COMSTAR, in particular, the project for installation of a mobile WiMAX broadband access network in Moscow, which is being implemented by the operator in partnership with Intel, and the outlook for WiMax expansion into the country’s regions.
The changes, which took place in the wireless communications segment for the past year, in particular, in the field of frequency regulation, the problems of threat relating to migration of fixed-line communication users to mobile networks, WiMax evolution in Russia, mobile broadband access features for individuals and corporate customers, and other subjects were also discussed.
