OREANDA-NEWS. On April 11, 2008 “Investment Guide in Uzbekistan”, “Investment Catalogue” and “Cost of Doing Business in Uzbekistan” have been prepared jointly by UNDP, UNCTAD, ICC, “Uzinfoinvest” Agency and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan within the joint project of the MFERIT and UNDP’s “Capacity building and strengthening the foreign trade and investment Promotion Institutions in Uzbekistan”, reported the Official website www.investuzbekistan.uz.

It is well know that investment inflows substantially depend also on access to reliable and comprehensive information that foreign investors might need about socio-economic development of Uzbekistan, its investment climate, infrastructure, economic structure as well as guarantees and incentives granted in Uzbekistan for implementation of investment projects. Thus, one of major challenges in attraction of foreign investment into the country is lack of reliable, systemized, comprehensive and updated information for the potential investors.

It is to note that the Guide and Catalogue provide the potential investors with start up information about investment environment in Uzbekistan. As to “Cost of Doing Business’s” main task is assisting the investors to estimate their main expenses (set up a business) connected with their business activity in Uzbekistan such as registration, taxes, rentals, fees, salaries, stuff, telecommunications, public utilities, transport and etc.

Taking these in mind MFERIT and UNDP within their joint project "Capacity building and Strengthening Foreign Trade and Investment Promotion Institutions in Uzbekistan" with support of UNCTAD, ICC, "Uzinfoinvest" Investment Promotion Agency, and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan produced ''Investment Guide to Uzbekistan" that is further accompanied by "Catalogue of Investment Opportunities in Uzbekistan" and "Cost of Doing Business in Uzbekistan" publications.

Participants of the presentation the “Investment Guide and Catalogue are intended to provide investors with comprehensive information about Uzbekistan, investment and business climate formed in the country as well as information about investment regulations, procedures

and opportunities and advantages of doing business in Uzbekistan". "A distant investor from the overseas, does he know about how to do business in Uzbekistan enough to consider us for his future investment plans? The Guide and Catalogue provides him with the start up information for making his decision and comparing Uzbekistan with other potential destinations".
