OREANDA-NEWS. April 10, 2008. Two modern portable post offices successfully passed test. They were based on car GAZ-33081 and GAZ-33027 and one portable (ready made) post office worked out and produced for FSUE Russian Post by OAO "Kombinat avtomobilnih furgonov" (Chuvash Republic). The post offices have been tested in affiliated branches of Astrakhan, Pskov and Moscow regions before. The devices were improved taking into account all the remarks of the branch offices, reported the press-centre of Russian Post.

New portable offices with advanced facilities will grant modern postal services in remote, difficult-to-access and under-populated Russian regions that don’t have fixed post offices. In such offices customers can use wide range of the most popular services: send and receive money order, make utilities and other payments, get Internet access (CyberPocht@) and other. They also render off trade, telephony services and traditional postal services.

New portable post offices are of particular importance for settlements without post offices network, as they have satellite system.

Along with wide range of services new post offices provide comfortable conditions for postal operators. There is electric heater, conditioner, wash stand and other household devices(refrigerator, microwave oven) inside portable post office.

Full-scale project on portable post offices is to be implemented within the period of 2008 – 2010. In general the enterprise will need about thousand of such offices.
