Power Supply of the Smolensk Area Restored
OREANDA-NEWS. On 10 April 2008 was announced, that the Smolensk and Tver areas experienced the strongest storm front which was accompanied by rain, hailstone, squally wind up to 25-30 km/s.
Impact of the elements disconnected 18 transformer substations and 12 transmission lines of 35-110 kV (kilovolt), and also 1, 263 transformer centers and 139 transmission lines in the network of 6-10 kV.
Owing to duly actions, the most part of the damaged power facilities of the Smolensk area was restored by 10:00 a.m. today.
For this moment, 418 TS in the network of 6-10 kV located in sparsely populated centers of the Tver area are disconnected. The most damaged of them are Torzhok and Nelidov Electric Networks. Hospitals and other socially significant objects were not switched off.
In order to liquidate the consequences, JSC IDGC of Centre organized an operational team supervised by Deputy General Director for the Technical Policy Sergey Schumakher. A special order of control over the course of liquidation was introduced, accelerated supply of materials, emergency reserves is involved, interaction with structures of the Civil Defence and Emergency Situations of the regions was organized.
According to Director for Operation and Repairs of IDGC of Centre Dmitry Pankov, 40 brigades of Tverenergo branch of IDGC of Centre were involved in repairs works. Brigades from the nearest electric grid areas of the neighboring industrial branches take part in restoration of electricity supply. It was initially estimated that the electric power supply will be restored today.
