Moldova and Slovakia Signed Intergovernmental Agreement
OREANDA-NEWS. On April 08, 2008 this was announced in Chisinau within the frameworks of the Moldovan-Slovak business forum by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia Jan Kubis.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova Andrei Stratan, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova Igor Dodon and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia Jan Kubis.
As Slovakian minister emphasized, the agreement is very important and creates the legislative framework for protection of mutual investments. According to him, negotiations on memorandum cooperation in the economic field, which will be signed by the ministries of both countries, are being held now.
This will be one of the main documents of bilateral economic cooperation. In the nearest future the negotiations on the Agreement on double taxation evasion between Moldova and Slovakia will be signed. Jan Kubis noted readiness of the Bank of Slovakia to provide loans on favourable terms to Moldavian businessmen, as well as good relations established between the Slovakian Agency for export promotion (SARIO) and the Agency for promotion of Moldavian export (MIEPO).
The Minister expressed confidence that in future bilateral cooperation will become tighter and will be actively promoted by the new Ambassador of Slovakia in Moldova Dagmar Reptsekova. Slovakian Official congratulated Moldova with the achievements mentioned in the Report of European Commission on implementation of the Plan of Actions Moldova-EU.
However, he said that it is important for Moldova to repay existing debts and to improve business environment and investment climate.
