OREANDA-NEWS. April 9, 2008. The key issue on the agenda is the draft federal law on treatment of radioactive waste. The deputy director of the Nuclear Safety Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences Igor Linge will make a report on this subject.

The deputy director general of Hydrospetsgeologiya Mark Glinsky will make a report on the geo-monitoring of the Mayak PA zone (Chelyabinsk region).

The Council will also consider the results of the work and the plans of the public councils for the safe use of nuclear energy in Irkutsk and Murmansk regions as well as the prospects for introduction of modern international standards for radiation safety of the personnel of nuclear companies and the population living near nuclear power plants.

Representatives of federal and regional authorities and public and ecological organizations have been invited as experts.
