OREANDA-NEWS. On 09 April 2008 was announced, that certificate for completion of the guarantee test run to confirm capacity and quality in accordance with relationship under the License Agreement between IDEMITSU KOSAN CO., LTD. (hereunder "IKC") and Open JSC "Kazanorgsintez" (hereunder "KOS") was signed on April 3, 2008. That means, BPA Plant start-up was finished at KOS and reached 70000 metric tons per year production capacity.

Please, note that actually BPA Plant was constructed within 2 years. In September 2004 OJSC "Kazanorgsintez" together with OJSC "TAIF" have signed the contract with Japanese Company "Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd" for purchasing License & Basic Design Contract for BPA production. Detailed design for BPA production was prepared by Toyo Engineering Corporation. Branch offices of "Mitsui & Co., Ltd" acted as intermediate party and organizer of negotiations related with conclusion of the Contracts with Japanese Companies for two production plants. The construction was started in October 2005.

Joint Project provides production of polycarbonate plastics; Bisphenol-A, used as raw material, with total capacity 70000 metric tons and Polycarbonates with total capacity 65000 tons per year. Purchased technology will let KOS not only produce valuable end products from low effective phenol and acetone using safe and environmentally appropriate methods but also will not require the purchases of any raw materials outside for polycarbonates production at all. All four types of raw materials are sufficiently produced by OJSC "Kazanorgsintez", including ethylene oxide, which is the third type of raw material for polycarbonates production and the fourth - carbon dioxide is being discharged into atmosphere nowadays. But in summer this year it is planned to start using of carbon dioxide for getting polycarbonates.

The purchased technologies and design solutions are unique nowadays with the only commercial production scale in Taiwan, which is successfully and efficiently operated.

First Bisphenol-A shipments to the European market (such countries as Poland, Germany, and Baltic States) have already been arranged by KOS.

Bisphenol-A is also used while manufacturing of plastics which are used for the internal coating of the foodstuffs cans, and while manufacturing of package which is used in cosmetic and food industries.

The latest studies, performed by European Food Safety Administration (2007), revealed that application of Bisphenol-A, used during plastics manufacturing, is safety even for food wrapping and, as known, permission of plastics use in food wrapping is the most authoritative confirmation of their safety.
