OREANDA-NEWS. April 8, 2008. In January-March, 2008, throughput of Vanino Commercial Seaport OJSC grew by 13.8%, year-on-year, to 1.697.5 million tonnes, the company’s materials read. In the reported period, transshipment of export cargo amounted to 818,700 tonnes including 165,700 tonnes of non-ferrous metal (+18.2 %), 136,200 tonnes of coal (+9.4 %), 71,500 tonnes of ferrous metal (+77.9%). Transshipment of import cargo totaled 374,800 tonnes (+88.2 %, year-on-year) including 325,500 tonnes of alumina (+71.5%). In the first quarter of the year the company handled 67,000 tonnes of coastal trade cargo (-7.3%). Transshipment of cargo by Vanino-Kholmsk ferry service totaled 437,000 tonnes (+11.2%, year-on-year). In January-March 2008, the port handled 429 vessels (including 188 ferries) and 19,900 wagons. In the reported period, the port’s container throughput totaled 5,764 TEU.
