OREANDA-NEWS. April 03, 2008. Azovstal Iron & Steel Works increased its production indices for steel and rolled products: steel production made up 1538,1 thou t that is for 11,5 thou t more than for the same period of the previous year. Azovstal increased rolled products manufacturing: during the 1st quarter of 2008 its volume amounted 1382,8 thou t that is for 57,8 thou t more than the indices of the same period of 2007, reported the press-centre of Azovstal Iron & Steel Works.
 
At the 1st quarter of 2008 the Works increased production volume of bulk coke (6% moisture) for 6 thou t up to 616,2 thou t due to realization of set of actions for optimization of coke and chemical production.
 
Hot metal production for three months of 2008 amounted 1263,8 thou t, that is for 70,3 thou t less than for the same period of 2007. Slight decrease of hot metal production volumes is explained by the planned overhauls at BF-shop.

At Azovstal Iron & Steel Works there is a complex program of technical rearrangement and production capacities modernization that is aimed at increase of production efficiency and decrease of anthropogenic impact on the environment. The program also presupposes performing overhauls of the main metallurgical units in 2008.
