OREANDA-NEWS. On April 03, 2008 European prizes were awarded for the first time in Moscow for remarkable contributions to strengthening cultural, scientific and business relations between Russia and Europe. The award granting ceremony was held in the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts. Alexander the Great figurines made by sculptor Grigory Pototsky were awarded to the winners, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

The prize has been established by the Moscow European Club, the European Club of Gosduma (Russian Parliament), and the National Directorate of Concert and Festival Programs under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation.

The Moscow European prize is awarded to people working in different fields and making sizeable contributions in creation of a positive image of Russia in Europe, popularization of European values in Russia, and promotion of Russian culture in Europe. Vladimir Koptev—Dvornikov, Co-Chairman of the Moscow European Club, explained that the prize is awarded for “rapprochement, promotion of peace, cross-pollination of cultures, and communication of people.”

TNK-BP was awarded the Moscow European prize in the “Business” nomination.
