OREANDA-NEWS. April 7, 2008. Two modern enterprises will replenish the infrastructure of the textile industry, one of the most promising sectors of national economy. Construction of two cotton-spinning factories with the capacity of 14,500 tons and 17,700 tons a year respectively was started in Dashoguz and Turkmenabat.

Turkmenistan’s long-term partners - the Cotam Enterprises Ltd Company and the Engin Group Consortium, which have accumulated the profound experience in textile industry, are to implement the projects for turnkey construction of the textile enterprises amounted to US\\$ 147.3 million.

To achieve the goals of the textile industry development strategy the network of the cotton spinning enterprises will be expanded in the cotton growing regions that will promote increasing production of high-quality goods of great demand on world market and creating over 950 new jobs in Turkmenabat and Dashoguz. The estimated capacity of the new enterprises is over US\\$ 45 million.

Applying advanced technologies and know-how innovations at the factories in Dashoguz and Turkmenabat is the main demand made to the industrial enterprises in the country. Up-to-date equipment produced by the leading European and Japanese companies will be installed at the factories. The systems installed at the factories will create the comfortable working conditions. The special laboratory will monitor the quality of the goods. There will be the machine and power-generating unit, compressor stations, boiler plants, lime catchers, pumps and water reservoirs, fire extinguishing plants in the territory of the factories.

In Turkmenistan the textile complexes have the complete production cycle – from ginned cotton processing to production of finished goods. During the years of independence the textile industry has considerably increased its potential. Ginned cotton processing increased from 3 to 40 %, production of cotton cloth and cotton yarn increased as high as 13 and 18 times respectively. The infrastructure including the network of modern cotton spinning, weaving and garment factories manufacturing the high-quality goods of great demand on the world market was created in the country.
