OREANDA-NEWS. On 03 April 2008 was announced, that Ilim Group Branches in Koryazhma, Bratsk and Ust-Ilimsk became winners of the annual contest, “Russia’s Top 100 Environment and Environmental Management Companies”, during the Second All-Russian Environment and Production Conference that took place in Saint Petersburg, and were awarded honorary diplomas.

All the Group’s branches pay closest attention to environmental issues. Koryazhma, Bratsk and Ust-Ilimsk branches have functioning systems of environmental management and professional security certified according to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 international standards. The companies implement nature-oriented programs and investment projects which provide a lower environmental impact.

Ilim Group Koryazhma branch completed several large environmental projects in 2007, including the construction of an evaporator plant, and purchase, assembling and launch of Twin Roll pulp washer.

Ilim Group Bratsk branch fulfilled the following nature-oriented projects: reconstruction and modernization of waste treatment facilities, recultivation of the slurry reservoir, installed local industrial waste and gas emission treatment plants, and performed a number of measures aimed at restoring the fish stock of Bratsk and Ust-Ilimsk water storage.

Ilim group Ust-Ilimsk branch carried out a package of nature-oriented measures allowing to lower the environmental stress. Apart from steps aimed at the modernization of the second pulping line, it worked a lot on reconstructing two of the secondary holding ponds of the industrial waste treatment facilities, and did a large volume of work within its project to remove and recultivate career 83 (3rd stage), and to reconstruct the sludge dewatering centre.

The goal of the contest “Russia’s Top 100 Environment and Environmental Management Companies” is to promote a public image of environmental and social responsibility in nature protection and minimization of environmental impact.
