OREANDA-NEWS. April 01, 2008. Vytas Navickas, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania, signed the Order whereby he approved the Public Company Mazeikiu Nafta's product pipeline development plan. Now the Company can start preparing for routing of a product pipeline to the Baltic Sea, reported the press-centre of Mazeikiu Nafta.

"We have granted AB Mazeikiu Nafta the authority to start the development of a special plan on the basis of the Law on Territorial Planning," said Anicetas Ignotas, Secretary of the Ministry of Economy.

Having received the government’s authorization, Mazeikiu Nafta will develop an environmental impact study and will draft documents pertaining to territorial planning. The work is assumed to last for one year.
 
Only having completed these tasks, the preferred route (out the two) will be known.

Alternative No. 1 – routing of a one more pipeline from Mazeikiai Refinery to Butinge Oil Terminal; Alternative No. 2 – routing of a product pipeline to Klaipeda – where Mazeikiu Nafta ships its products by railway.
