OREANDA-NEWS. On 03 April 2008 was announced, that Russia’s world image is visibly consolidating. This is the result of the public opinion poll held by the British Broadcasting Corporation BBC. The poll covered 34 countries. Russia has got 8% more positive evaluations comparing to the previous year. The interesting thing that the British people turned out to become ones who started treating Russia more friendly.

Experts find the poll results quite logical. “They are associated with the extension of Russia’s influence in the international arena, a tough foreign policy orientation of the Russian government and the Russia’s position as one of the important energy resources export and transit centers. Corporate giants contribute to the promotion of the country image. “Gazprom”, LUKOIL, “Transneft” – are the world famous brands, - quoted as Dmitry Orlov, political scientist commenting on BBC research.
