Belarus and Russia Will Continue Union State Building
OREANDA-NEWS. April 2, 2008. Chairman of the Supreme State Council (SSC) of the Union State, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko congratulated the Belarusians and Russians on the Day of Unity of Peoples of Belarus and Russia.
“12 years ago we made a commitment to a fundamental and comprehensive integration in the effort to be in a union and to make common cause”, the felicitation message says. “Time has proved that we made the right commitment: today Belarusian-Russian relations are dynamically developing in all the areas”.
Alexander Lukashenko noted that the implementation of Union State programmes that cover a wide range of activities, from military and technical to joint humanitarian cooperation, is becoming a more powerful means of practical solution to many socio-economic issues. According to him, an efficient system of foreign policy cooperation has been established; the joint defense capacity is being strengthened.
According to the President, the results of the latest session of the SSC and recently held negotiations have attested to the willingness of the both states to seek for mutually acceptable solutions to any issues, have confirmed their determination to further improve the well-being of the Belarusians and Russians, to guarantee their safety and to create necessary conditions for the successful development of the two countries.
“The present trustful and equitable dialogue between the leadership is the determining factor for working out coordinated and appropriate responses to new challenges of today”, Alexander Lukashenko underlined. At the same time, the unanimous support of the Russian society for the continuity of the current political and economic course in Russia enables the both countries to continue the creation of the fully fledged Union, taking into consideration the mutual interests of the both states, the Belarusian President noted.
