EMT Lowers Mobile Data Transmission Price Abroad
OREANDA-NEWS. As of April 1st, 2008, a unified mobile data transmission price of EEK 59 per MB (including VAT) is valid for EMT contractual customers in most European countries. The price is lowered up to four times compared to previous rates of different operators, reported the press-centre of EMT.
Data transmission price unification is done together with other operators in TeliaSonera group.
„Together with TeliaSonera we can offer considerably lower data transmission prices“, said Reena Magi, EMT roaming services manager. „In Latvia and Lithuania, data transmission prices are already lower than European average due to a special agreement between EMT, LMT and Omnitel. TeliaSonera has now made similar agreements with operators of most European countries. For customers it is also easier to remember one price of EEK 59 instead of several ones as it was before, for example 88,40 (Sonera in Finland), 173,40 (Netcom in Norway) or 252,40 (Belgacom in Belgium).“
Within the frame of new agreements and price unification the price for data transmission will rise a bit Latvia and Lithuania – from EEK 56,95 to EEK 59 per MB. In Latvia and Lithuania, the new rate will be applied a month later and will become valid from May 1st, 2008.
New data transmission price is valid in networks of 24 operators in 19 countries. Those countries are: Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and UK. Detailed list of operators is available at EMT homepage http://www.emt.ee/.
TeliaSonera AB is EMT’s mother company, major shareholder of AS Eesti Telekom with 60.12% of shares. TeliaSonera is the biggest telecommunications corporation in Nordic countries and Baltic states with largest turnover and number of customers in both mobile and fixed communications. TeliaSonera operates in 18 countries in Scandinavia, Baltic states, Eastern Europe and Middle Asia. TeliaSonera had 114 million customers at the end of 2007.
