OREANDA-NEWS. March 31, 2008. Mr. Espinos recalled his previous meeting with the Azerbaijani President in 2003 when the latter was in charge of the National Olympic Committee.

The WKF President underlined that he had witnessed a great progress Azerbaijan has achieved ever since in all spheres of life, including in sports.

President Aliyev briefed Mr. Espinos on development of sports in Azerbaijan and achievements of the Azerbaijani sportsmen in the international arena. He underlined that karate is a very popular kind of sport among young Azerbaijanis, and expressed hope for further enhancement of cooperation between WKF and local Karate federation.

Mr. Espinos presented President Ilham Aliyev with a 9 Dan Diploma for his contributions to development of sports in Azerbaijan.
