Belarus and Russia to Implement Joint Oil Production Projects
OREANDA-NEWS. March 27, 2008. The Belarusian research institute of oil (BelNIIneft) and Siberian research institute of oil industry (SibNIINP) have signed a protocol of intent on cooperation in development of oil fields, oil production and formation treatment technology.
The Russian side plans to invite over Belarusian specialists and scientists as subcontractors. In turn, Russia is ready to consider a possibility of taking part in the projects that Belorusneft is implementing in Venezuela and Iran. In the near future the Belarusian specialists are set to visit SibNIINP to get familiar with the Russian oil field development technologies.
The Belorusneft press service noted that the company has been recently building up production cooperation with Russian companies. Last year a Belorusneft subsidiary was opened in Western Siberia (Yamal-Nenetsk autonomous region). The main partners are Rosneft-Purneftegas and Siberian well construction department. The Belarusian specialists will perform well repair work, sidetracking, rigging-up operations, backfill and seismic operations.
The Siberian research institute of oil industry was set up in 1975 to address the issues related to the development of oil fields. The institute consists of 8 research departments.
Production Association Belorusneft was set up in 1996 and is now part of the Belneftekhim concern. It is involved in oil field development, well-sinking, oil and accompanying gas extraction.
