VolgaTelecom’s General Director Won International Management Contest
OREANDA-NEWS. On 26 March 2008 was announced, that VolgaTelecom’s General Director Sergey Omelchenko had won international management contest “The best achievements in business”. The awarding ceremony was held in Moscow on March 18, 2008.
International management contest “The best achievements in business” is held under the auspices of the Federation Council of Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation within the framework of Global project “New quality of growth to Russia”.
The project is intended to assist the development of national economy through: the recovery of competitiveness and investment appeal; transparency and development of business social responsibility; improvement of culture and management. The contest organizers are Association “International congress for telecommunications quality”, International Academy of Business and Business Quality and International institute of business quality.
The objective of the contest is to encourage the services of CEOs of Russia’s organizations who achieved the best results in establishing and development of management system, applying strategic and innovation approaches to management, and who made considerable contribution to the improvement of efficiency and recovery of competitiveness of their entities.
The contest participants are CEOs of companies and heads of functional departments of entities (domestic and foreign) of various forms of incorporation, including medium and small businesses. The competitioners and the winners are assessed by the contest Council consisting of competent experts.
VolgaTelecom is not a newcomer in the contests of Global project “New quality of growth to Russia”. In 2007 the Company got national award “Olympus of quality” for outstanding achievements in communications services provision. This time VolgaTelecom’s General Director Sergey Omelchenko has got the award “The best achievements in business” in management contest.
- I perceive this award as the assessment of the activity of the entire collective, - says VolgaTelecom’s General Director Sergey Omelchenko. – The Company is consistently putting emphasis on the issues of quality which are the most important to be competitive today. VolgaTelecom being the largest telecommunications operator of the Volga region sees its mission for creation of conditions to provide for dignified quality of life of our fellow citizens due to the wide implementation of IT achievements and the provision of quality telecommunications services. The Company actively participated in realization of priority national project “Education” and connected more than 8 300 educational institutions of the Volga Federal district to the Internet; within the framework of the program of Universal service the Company has installed about 16 500 payphones and continues the activity. According to preliminary results in 2007 the Company successfully completed key target indicators. VolgaTelecom has got the certificate of compliance with the requirements of GOST R ISO 9001-2001 for the system of quality management which is an instrument for efficient improvement of services quality and the development of the Company as a whole. That is why I am sure that the award will help the Company to run the business more efficiently.
