Moldova Enhances Business Relations with Ukraine at Regional Level
OREANDA-NEWS. March 26, 2008. Development of economic partnership, learning about new business opportunities and investment projects, establishment of trade relations were the key goals of the visit of businessmen from Moldova to Kirovohrad region.
The mission program foresees bilateral business meetings at the Kirovohrad Chamber of Industry and Commerce, meetings with representatives of the city administration, attendance of the agricultural equipment exhibition AGRO, as well as local enterprises.
According to one of the mission's organizers, vice president of Moldova's Chamber of Industry and Commerce Vladimir Didilika, the inter-chamber Moldovan-Ukrainian cooperation has brought its fruit. Lately the sides have signed 22 agreements, mainly at the regional level.
As the Moldovan representatives noted, Ukraine is one of the key economic partners of Moldova. In 2007 Ukraine was third after Russia and Romania in terms of exports. Last year the volume of Moldovan goods supplied to the Ukrainian market was estimated at USD 168 million, a 30.4% rise against 2006.
In terms of imports, Ukraine takes the first place among Moldova's partner states. In 2007 the volume of goods imported from Ukraine to the domestic market totaled USD 687 million, which is 33% up year-on-year.
