Over 300 5-Storey Houses Will Be Pull Down in Moscow in 2008
OREANDA-NEWS. On 25 March 2008 was announced, that the city authorities plan to demolish more than 300 five-storey buildings with the area of 800,000 square metres in Moscow in 2008. It was declared by Vladimir Resin, first deputy city mayor of Moscow, head of Associate board of architecture, construction, development and reconstruction of Moscow, at a session of the city government on March 25.
“373 five-storey buildings with the area of 715,000 square metres were demolished in 2007. We plan to pull down 315 residential houses with the area of 800,000 square metres in 2008. Basically, the five-storey buildings will be demolished in the northern, southwestern and western districts [of Moscow]. This is 50 per cent of the annual city program concerning the demolition of five-storey buildings set to be completed in 2010,” Mr Resin said.
In total the city authorities of Moscow plan to pull down about 6 million square metres of dilapidated and five-storey residential buildings within the program of reconstruction of five-storey housing stock scheduled till 2010.
