OREANDA-NEWS. On 25 March 2008 was announced, that the Udmurt Republic President Alexander Volkov and the President of TVEL Corporation Yuri Olenin visited Chepetsky Mechanical Plant. In course of the visit the results of activities of one of the leading enterprises of nuclear industry of Russia for 2007 were summarized and plans of development up to 2020 were presented.

The visit to CMP took place not by chance: CMP is a leading enterprise of TVEL Corporation and is one of the largest, city forming plants of the region. During the meeting the region leaders and TVEL Corporation head supported the initiatives of the First Vice-premier Dmitry Medvedev, which he had put forward during the Second Congress of Engineering Workers of Russia (that had been held a day before in Izhevsk). It is reflected in complex development program of TVEL Corporation’s enterprises “Growth of Volumes and Reduction of Costs – New Image of Enterprises up to 2020”.

The current priority of TVEL Corporation industrial policy is to secure leading positions in the World nuclear fuel market. The only way to achieve this aim is an innovation break-through that will be implemented in the process of creating a new image of enterprises, restructuring and process cost reduction.

During a meeting with plant representatives and non-government organizations of Glazov the Udmurt President Alexander Volkov said: “The main thing is that Chepetsky Mechanical Plant along with TVEL Corporation has found their way to the future. New production of superconducting materials at CMP is a successful example of application of nanotechnologies. The plant was and will be the leading enterprise of the Republic with high competitive potential in the World market”.

Ambitious tasks for the nearest future, apart from superconductors’ manufacturing for ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) project, are the production of zirconium (CMP is one of the 4 largest world zirconium producers), titanium and hafnium. The planned production of titanium is from 44 tons in 2007 up to 210 tons in 2008. To develop new production additional vacancies are created (309 in 2007 to 431 in 2008). In coming years it is planned to invest in CMP development about 15 billion rubles.

“To implement our plans stability of economy, society and country is required. Russia can arise only with the help of effective industry. We need such unique towns-agglomerations like Glazov where scientific, engineering and industrial elite is concentrated,”- said the President of TVEL Corporation Yuri Olenin.

TVEL Corporation HR policy priority is to attract young specialists and workers, transfer of knowledge, production skills and experience to a new generation of atomic scientists. This will help to preserve the best traditions of domestic engineering and of highest labor management culture.

Social responsibility vector of CMP as a budget forming enterprise is aimed at increasing of Glazov’s attractiveness, development of its social infrastructure. Only in 2007, apart from taxes paid to local, regional and federal budgets in the amount of 1,8 billion rubles, the plant sponsored the town with 46 million rubles that was spent for maternity hospital and kindergarten for 220 children construction. The plant plans to raise the average salary to 22 – 23 thousand rubles.

The principle position of TVEL and CMP management is to maintain the level of social guarantees for enterprises’ employees that are becoming subsidiaries.
