OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 March 2008 was announced, that on the 19th of March 1906 by Decree of Nikolay II new subdivision appeared in Russian military imperial fleet classification – submarines.

Traditionally the Day of Submariner is celebrated not only by military men but also by project organizations, shipbuilding and ship repairing plants.

Within 68 years Sevmash has made great contribution to establishment of submarine fleet in Russia. 33 diesel and 128 nuclear submarines came from enterprise slip ways. Now Sevmash builds submarines of new generation. In February 2008 head nuclear submarine of "Borej" project "Yuri Dolgoruki" was launched. Its "brethren" "Alexander Nevsky" and "Vladimir Monomakh" are at present moment in slip way shop. Both nuclear submarines were keel laid on the Day of Submariner with difference of two years (2004 and 2006 respectively). At that keel laying of "Vladimir Monomakh" began the second century of Russian submarine forces.
