OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 March 2008 was announced, that Utel branch offering UMTS services is the first in Ukraine who launches its absolutely new fixed-line SMS service. The Company is sure that this offer is both innovative and social achievement in Ukraine. Due to this new universal service false differentiation between mobile and fixed-line communication disappears.  This offering is really an innovative way of communication knitting subscribers of Utel mobile carrier and Ukrtelecom fixed-line operator.

SMS is sent to a fixed-line phone in the following way: text message of 160 Latin symbols or 70 Cyrillic symbols a subscriber sends to a fixed-line telephone number dialing eight, city code and the telephone number needed. Then the text is converted into a voice message in English or Russian and the other party gets it like a regular incoming call. After the receiver has been takenoff the callee hears the Utel’s greeting, voice SMS and voice information about the time and telephone number of the SMS sent. When SMS is sent to a fax number a callee gets its printed copy.

Long SMS (more than 160 Latin symbols or more than 70 Cyrillic symbols) is transmitted as one voice message but for Utel subscriber it is charged like a corresponding number of short SMSs sent.

Till April 23, 2008 Utel offers this unique preference for Ukrainian users free. After the test period charge for such SMS will be 75 kopecks (VAT inclusive).

Emilian Dzugas, Utel Deputy Director on Marketing and Sales said that this friendly and up-to-date fixed-line SMS service would allow the subscribers to save their time and expand communication possibilities. “Due to the service flexibility we took into account favors of both Utel and Ukrtelecom subscribers. First, our mobile subscribers should not wait till the callee’s fixed line will be free or the callee will pick up the receiver. As soon as SMS is sent from one’s cell phone it will be transmitted at once. Second, this unique offer will be free for all over than ten million Ukrtelecom fixed-line subscribers and allow them to use their fixed-line phones effectively not missing any call or message.”

Fixed-line SMS service is included into a core UMTS service package offered by Utel so extra activation and fee is not required. Fixed-line SMS service is available for Utel corporate and pre-paid subscribers within the national roaming. You can send your SMS to any Ukrtelecom fixed line telephone or fax number.
