OREANDA-NEWS. March 19, 2008. VivaCell, a subsidiary of Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (NYSE: MBT), today announces the completion of renovation works on the rooftop of the whole Medical Complex in Medzamor, Armavir marz, to which the Company dedicated AMD 58.5 million.

Being in the core of its philosophy, VivaCell continues on implementing its social responsible large-scale programs with an aim to improve infrastructure and living conditions of people in the regions of Armenia. Therefore, the Company focuses its support on projects having a clear and long-lasting impact on the Armenian society. Based on the assessment and evaluation of needs in the area of health care, VivaCell decided to allocate funds for the full renovation of the rooftop of Medzamor Medical Complex in Armavir marz, a huge medical facility providing general and narrow specialty care to the population in Medzamor and nearby regions. The Medical Complex is comprised of Gynecology and Obstetrics Department, Surgery Department, Therapeutic Department, Administrative Department, Children’s Somatic Department, cafeteria, laundry, and the Central Corpus. In total, the area occupied by the Medical Center makes 3,615 square meters.

The rooftop of Medzamor Medical Complex has been in a poor state for quite a long time, and given the lack of means to carry out complete renovation, the buildings of the medical complex have been hard hit by snow and rain, for that VivaCell extended its all-supporting hand. Now, with a completely renovated rooftop, the Medical Complex is experiencing a new beginning, ready to serve the population of the marz in improved conditions. Ralph Yirikian, VivaCell General Manager stated: “VivaCell believes that all regions of Armenia are in the scope of our care and we are working in that direction. The impact of our support will touch people all over Armavir marz and beyond its borders to other marzes, and we believe it is appropriate for businesses to work with government, NGOs and individuals to help renovate outdated infrastructures in the marzes.”

VivaCell’s social investment is not limited to the Medical Complex in Armavir. VivaCell also extended its support in installing heating system in 3 secondary schools and construction of a drinking water internal network in Zartonk village of Armavir marz.
