Ukraine to Negotiate with Gazprom Greater Tariffs for Transit, Storage
OREANDA-NEWS. March 18, 2008. During the talks with Russia's Gazprom natural gas monopoly in 2009, Ukraine will raise the question of increasing tariffs for the transit and storage of gas. Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Prodan disclosed this at open committee hearings on energy security of Ukraine.
In his words, for modernization of the gas transportation system, it is planned to hold a donor conference in the autumn with the participation of foreign investors and draw USD 2.5 billion of investments. Speaking about the monopoly influence of OJSC Gazprom on Ukrainian industrial companies, Prodan noted that, in keeping with the agreements reached, the volume of gas to be supplied to national joint stock company Naftogaz of Ukraine for industrial companies will not exceed 7.5 billion cubic meters.
