OREANDA-NEWS. March 18, 2008. Metal supply and distribution: Engels Pipe Plant (EPP) is implementing the current stage of investment program for complex upgrade of the enterprise.

Today, instead of the High Frequency Welding 250 (HFW) unit, HFW 2-400/044 was commissioned (manufacturer – high frequency units plant, Saint-Petersburg). In two weeks the EPP professionals accomplished the mounting and commissioning works under the supervision of the manufacturer’s representatives. Replacing the HFW unit allowed increasing the welding speed by 20% and consequently decreasing the number of forced outages of HFW; the result is the increase of production volume and possibility to weld pipes with wall thickness of 5.5 mm.

Activities for upgrading the key facilities are aimed at increasing production efficiency and expanding the pipe product range. Total cost of works including the shipment and purchase of auxiliary materials amounted to about 6 mln rubles.

Currently the plant’s professionals are commissioning the automated shaped pipes packing unit with the purpose of facilitating the work of service workers and increasing the production efficiency of the pipe packing unit.
