Comstar Is Going to Monitor Digital TV Signal in Real-Time
OREANDA-NEWS. On 17 March 2008 Comstar – United TeleSystems, the leading supplier of integrated telecommunication solutions in Russia and the CIS, announced MiriMON, the system providing a real-time monitoring of the digital TV signal quality, to be commercially launched.
Comstar-Direct CJSC, the premier broadband Internet provider (STREAM brand), a member of Comstar-UTS, has signed a contract with Mirifice Ltd. (UK), the developer of MiriMON, to supply this system to Comstar. The system will enable tracking the quality of signal transmission via IP networks and thus the quality of experience of the Comstar-Direct's IPTV subscribers.
MiriMON will automatically monitor, generate reports and alarm messages for the technical and customer support departments of Comstar-Direct.
Sergey Nazarov, Marketing Vice President of Comstar – United TeleSystems said, "Any operator sooner or later faces failures in its data transfer networks, so we decided to take preventive steps. Deployment of this system will enable us to discover any TV signal transfer problem in our networks and resolve it before the user has a chance to know it exists. So we will enhance the customer experience and loyalty."
In the end of 2007, the number of Comstar's pay-TV subscribers in Moscow was 119,400. So it has grown by 36,100 for the past year.
