OREANDA-NEWS. March 17, 2008. United Metallurgical Company and Strabag (Strabag SE’s subsidiary) signed a package job contract for construction of a plate rolling facility (Mill 5000). The document was signed by OMK President Vladimir Markin and Strabag Director General Alexander Ortenberg.

"This is a very important, landmark contract for us", said Chairman of the OMK Board of Directors Anatoly Sedykh. "We are a major producer of large-diameter pipes and a major buyer of imported sheets. But with Mill 5000 commissioned, it will be a completely different situation. We’ll build a unique mill that will provide our company with sheets for many decades to come. We are happy to have the mill constructed by Strabag, a reputed and experienced company and Europe’s leader in the area".

"We are privileged to have our company selected for the project, thank you for your confidence", said member of the Board of Strabag AG Gerhard Gritzner. "We’ve been pursuing a proactive promotion policy in the Russian market. We are now negotiating for our branch office to be opened in Nizhni Novgorod and working on a number of projects in this region. Building this facility is an important project for us".
